Reports to: Design Manager
Design Experience: 5 years minimum
Education: Associate Degree minimum
Requirements:
- Must be neat in appearance, articulate and able to assist sales with calls on prospects and customers.
- Must have working knowledge of corrugated and foam materials, be able to design functional corrugated and protective foam packaging, and incorporate other materials as needed.
- Must be familiar with basic converting equipment and how it relates to efficient packaging design, manufacture and estimating.
- Must have working knowledge of cutting dies and flexographic printing plates.
- Must have basic computer skills and be competent with ArtiosCad, Acrobat, Excel and Word.
- Must be able to attain basic competency with company's management system software within 6 months.
- Must have general graphics knowledge as relating to structural packaging design.
- (Desirable) ability to use Illustrator/Photoshop.
- Must be familiar with ISTA testing requirements and equipment.
- Must be self-motivated.
- Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to design in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must be flexible.
- Must be emotionally mature and maintain a positive attitude.
Duties
- Create designs, drawings and prototype samples utilizing ArtiosCad software and Kongsberg cutting table.
- Design according to GMP and machinery limitations of internal plant and external outsource vendors.
- Act as supportive interface between sales, customer service and production.
- Initiate and/or participate in project management and process improvement meetings.
- Assist in sales calls with reps.
- Use drop tester and vibration table as needed to validate designs.
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of design areas.
- Order and/or check in cutting dies and printing plates in absence of tooling coordinator.
- Perform other duties as assigned by department manager.
